Meet Yongi and Yonga

I would like to introduce you to Yongi and Yonga, Sophie's monkey twins. Yes, they were the inspiration for her birthday cake. I thought I should include them in our blog since they are part of the family (adopted of course), and also because they recently were given new clothes and would like to show them off. My incredibly creative and talented Mom made clothes for the twins and Sophie loves to dress them. They have pajamas for bedtime and casual clothes for day to day wear. Aren't they cute?

Sophie's New Kitchen

Well, Sophie finally got her new kitchen, the one that was supposed to be here on her birthday. We assembled it last night and she has been busy cooking ever since!

Happy 6th Birthday, Noah!

Although Noah turned 6 on April 10, we didn't really celebrate his birthday until the weekend because he had strep throat. Yeah, getting sick on your birthday is no fun! But staying home from school does have its advantages...he built the Lego castle he got. It took him almost all day, and he did most of it himself. So, by the time Robby got home from work, they could play with it.
Saturday night we had some friends come over for cake (he wanted a Lego cake). He was feeling much better by then, so they spent several hours here, mostly playing with the new castle.

Crazy Hair Night!

Noah is part of Awanas and each week, they have some kind of theme or "Spirit Night" where the kids get to dress in pajamas, wear goofy glasses, crazy hats, etc. Recently we had "Crazy Hair Night". Noah grew out his hair and then we shaved parts of it and colored it blue, and spiked the rest. Pretty crazy, huh? Sophie wanted blue hair too so, of course, we colored hers as well.

Sophie is 3!!!

Sophie turned 3 April 7th. I can't believe how fast the time goes! As many of you know, she has a special stuffed animal monkey that she named Yongi, and so, for her birthday wanted me to make a Yongi cake. We kept it simple and just had a few neighbor friends come over. She got a play kitchen (which hasn't arrived in the mail yet) and play food. Now we are getting ready for Noah's birthday!

Galveston

One thing that is nice about living in Houston is that we are very close to the beach. It is not as pretty as the Oregon coast, but much warmer! Noah and Sophie love getting knocked over by the waves and collecting seashells. It is an easy day trip and we have gone several times since moving here.

Sea World

As most of you know, we went to San Antonio over Spring Break this year. We met up with our friends from Arizona, Chris, Heidi, and Leah. Leah and Robby share the same birthday (March 22), so we chose that day to go to Sea World. The kids had a blast! Noah rode his first roller coaster, Journey to Atlantis, and loved it. Sophie got to go on a little Shamu ride. She is pretty fearless, so I am sure next time we go, she will want to go on the "real" rides, even though she is not tall enough. And, of course, we watched the Shamu show. Robby, Chris, and the kids got soaked! Heidi and I were smart enough to sit in the "no splash zone". But the weather was perfect and they soon dried out, only to get wet again on all the rides. We had an awesome time!
